NDM UPS is located at the district of Pathanamthitta; belonging to the Taluk of Adoor on the fifth ward of Erathu village, the mountain-villageregion called Vayala. The school occupies an area of one acre and 45 cent. In 1962, honourable Mr. Narendra Dev, a native of Kulakada, established this school and he acted as the founder cum manager of the institution. Mr. Chandra Shekharan Pillai was the foremost headmaster of the school. At that time, there were scarcely any other schools in this locality. The school office was set up in a thatched shed. It was Rt. Rev. Dr. Jerome. M. Fernandez, the bishop of Quilon, who took initiative to buy this school and commenced its functioning in an exemplary manner. When the diocese of Punalur came into being, the school was transferred under the control of the Diocese of Punalur. Presently, Mrs Alphonsa adorns the HM chair. Five teachers along with a non-teaching staff assist the HM for the smooth functioning of the school. Now there are about 50 students in this school. The five, six and seven grade students are also accommodated here. The gems of personalities like renowned literary figures, priests, engineers and doctors so on and so forth, whom the school had produced over the years remain as a priceless asset of the school.
