It was in 1968, on June 3 rd that Vimalambika L.P. S was established at the heart of Kottarakara town on the Kollam- Thirumangalam National High way. The venerable, Rt. Rev. Dr Jerome. M. Fernandez, the Bishop of Quilon was the founder of this school. It was an ardent dream of the Bishop to set up a school at the town of Kottarakara. The Bishop had known that the development of an area can be made possible only by means of education. With this intent His Excellency entrusted the supervision of the school under Rev. Fr. Peter Jose, the parish priest of St. Michael's church Kottarakara at that time. He had carried out his duty in an excellent and fulfilling manner. At that time the school was founded with a benevolent view of bestowing education to all the children of this locality. The inception of the school was with one division in 1968 on June 3rd. The bishop himself had given admission for the first three students. Retha Rajan was the first student who had got admission into this school. Rev. Sr Mercilina was the first Head Mistress cum teacher of this school. Later numerous students from various parts of Kottarakara fled to this school by hearing the glorious activities of the school. 61 students got into the first standard and commenced their studies. When they reached gradually upto the fourth standard Rev. Sr. Ostin Mary, Rev. Sr Antonitta Mary, Rev. Sr. Wilhelmina Mary served as the initial teachers respectively.

One of the popular leaders who had strived hard prominently to promote this school at the earlier times was the former minister and the present Chairman of State welfare Corporation for Forward Communities, Mr. K. Balakrishna Pillai. Step by step, the school rose to standards and became a school having 16 divisions. In the curricular and extra-curricular activities Vimalambika is always at the forefront.

The success can be achieved only if we sail forth as per the changing demands. With the changes that took place in the educational scenario as per the demand of the times, Vimalambika also assimilated these changes and reaped victory. A team of sincere as well as devoted teachers is an asset to Vimalambika. The period of primary education is very crucial for the formation of character as well the personality development a child. The initial teachers who had realised this great truth attracted both the rich and poor students to this school. The order and discipline of Vimalambika enabled the initial students to imprint their stamp of genius at the various walks of society. Mrs. Elizabeth, who had served in this school as a teacher for a long time, deserves a special word of mention. The various Head Masters, Teachers and Non teaching staff of different periods should be remembered with sincere gratitude.

Vimalambika is an overflowing nostalgia for those who had undergone education here. There is a lot to be proud of as we retrospect the trodden pathways. As per the achievements in the academics the school has incorporated various cabbages including the Hi Tech facilities and continues its journey of success. The Almighty God may shower all the blessings to reach greater heights on this journey.
